In the celebratory mood of our ministers concerning REGGAE MONTH and BLACK HISTORY MONTH some reality on the ground in our beloved country begs the question, are we heading in the right direction? On seeing the monument dedicated to the children murdered, mostly during the structural agreement signed with the IMF, it pains one's heart to realize the callousness and selfishness that permeate our island. The killings of women have taken on the spiraling phenomenon with us having recorded over a hundred and twenty men and women just in January alone!!! Having studied the statistics and context it can be shown that the imposition of the IMF/Private sector toxic medicine on our people have precipitated a constant rise in a social dislocation in all its aspect, murders, robberies, migration, mentally impaired, sexual exploitation of our youths and the selling off of our prized national assets. The hype celebration of our truly worthy black gold and history is also masking the social decay and corruption happening daily in our beloved country. We must demand more and accountability from our leaders.
