As a sitting member of the United Nations and other world bodies and respected globally for our accomplishment it is appropriate that our foreign policies must be one of principle and respect. Our government is an embodiment of a democratic ideal that must represent the struggle of our people!! This aspiration was forged by our Heroes in their fight against colonialism and for independence. It is easier to maintain a friendship if it based on non-interference in other sovereign state's affairs. The gleaner editorial " Advancing US-Jamaica relations" should allude to the fact that Jamaica had never dictate or interfere in the affairs of the US, the opposite is the reality. Power is not defined by the number of weapons or money one has, but the principle, honor, truth and integrity one possesses!! Relationship undergoes changes, the change that is occurring in the US with an administration undermining its own democratic institution, that is spreading hate and military intervention must be challenged locally and internationally!!! our position must be respected as friends!!! Trying to divide the Caricom community must be condemned and unity of action must be preserved against this racist administration. Our foreign policy with the stated principle will survive the test of time.
