The scourge of violence plaguing our society has prompted another round of discussion among actors that over the forty years failed to stem its surge. It is laughable that the participants in the discussion are all failures during their tenure. Peter Phillip, Peter Bunting, Owen Ellington, and Warmington all failed!!! Criminality will flourish because the political establishment is complicit, it cover-up fraudulent acts of government officials. Let's examine the Petro-Jam debacle, it is off the radar, since the re-election of Andrew Holness the mainstream media became silent, there is no conviction? What happens to the Ruel Reid case? time has a way of letting officials off the hook. To promote law and order and to have citizens respecting the laws it must first be observed and practice by its leaders. Our people are aware of the collusion of politicians and criminal elements. Questions frequently asked are, How did those high powered weapons enter our Island? Why is the police ill-equipped? Why is the state of the art technology not employed to detect and thwart? Why are there two laws in Jamaica? one that protects the rich and the other used against the poor and workers. Our people are familiar with the utilization of shady individuals during an election with no objections from our law enforcement agencies. Our governance must stop the politics with our people and begin seriously to address this pandemic holistically!! Poverty, unemployment, high taxation, homelessness, migration, and tribalism breeds criminality.
