In august of this year, United Oil and gas announced that it had received approval from the Jamaican Government to take 100 percent control of the Walton Morant License. Prior to that, it had a 20% stake in the project, while Tullow held 80%. (Jamaica Gleaner, 10/09/2020. United Oil and Gas to double oil search in Jamaica). United Oil and Gas bought out all shares from its partner, Tullow Oil, of which our government had a 20% share. Why did the government not maintain the twenty percent share going forward? Is this the strategy of the holness administration to complete the total privatization of our assets while paying lip service to export?
