It was very interesting to watch both Nigel and Mark trying to explain how they will finance the promises made to gain power in the anti-people parliament, a relic of our colonial past. Mark was more honest and forthcoming in his answers, he is sympathetic to the cause of the poor, while Nigel was repeating his textbook knowledge of Macro-Economics. Both stayed clear of not mentioning the impact of the IMF on our Economy, a stain on both credibilities to our people. Both hands are tied by the strictures imposed by the IMF and endorsed by the sponsors of the debate. The announcement of Proven that they supported both entities exposed their hypocrisy in our political life, yet they want our people to choose between their two servants!! The agents of the system were more concerned about the billions it would cost to help the needy but failed to highlight that the sector they represent must be paid over 200 plus billion in interest payment on a principal of over a trillion dollars, the majority of which belongs to the private sector. It is clear that the poor and workers will suffer irrespective of who wins, the IMF is a no-growth policy!!! A PNP victory would stem the tide of corruption under the Holness administration and bring more credibility to our international affairs.
