The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Christopher Tufton, should stop playing politics with the life of the Jamaican people by continuing the fail policy of the previous administration. Liberalization will not benefit the Jamaican people, especially in these turbulent economic times. The Jamaican government should protect our agricultural sector by restricting the importation of foreign goods into the island and allow the farmers to supply us with our own food.
The government must realize that the Jamaican people are aware that their agricultural policies are to benefit certain business sector that contributes to their political machinery. The government was elected to satisfy the aspiration of the majority of Jamaicans and they must work towards that end. Both the government and the opposition should work as hard as if they were campaigning for power to solve the country's problems and not run to sell off everything we own because that is the easiest thing to do to please the private sector.
