On the lawn of her Excellency Ambassador Mrs. Inez Fernandez celebrating the 61st anniversary of the Cuban revolution. The patrons were treated to a sumptuous menu along with speeches and song highlighting the strong bond between Cuba and Jamaica. Representatives of the government and opposition were also present. The former Prime Minister, Mrs. Simpson Miller was also present, a staunch defender of our country's friendship with Cuba. Highlighted in the speech was Cuba's assistance in the medical and scholarship area, it was noted by the speaker that our friendship with Cuba predated the revolution. This bond of friendship bourne out of mutual respect and cultural affinity must be expanded and protected.
