The battle of the direction of our black gold has begun on social media with competing forces fighting for their supposed rights to identify with this world black gold and emancipatory genre. Our government since the uncloaking of its colonial stench fired the first shot when it began its onslaught against then nationalist and anti-colonial movement, the Rastafarian.

It was a well design plan to eradicate this movement, both local and British authorities saw it as a threat to its existence. Our artists were arrested and sometimes charge if their vocals incite any hatred towards the establishment, thus the hounding and surveillance by American intelligence against the protagonist of this revolutionary music, Bob Marley, Tosh, and others were the targets. The music became threatening because it infected the majority-black majority in Jamaica who had nothing to lose but the chains that bind them to poverty!!!
