Our movement, Jamaica Patriotic Movement challenge the government to have a cultural venue in each parish for the community leaders to utilize in having reggae concerts periodically and promoted as part of our tourism brand!! This proposal is part of our manifesto for the new Jamaica. Reggae Month should be staged in each parish when all the facilities are in place. The privatization of our black gold is putting our gem at risk, the rich will seek to use their money power to control and exploit without no benefit to our people.
Sumfest is a vivid example, sold to a foreigner that came to our shore and used his wealth to accomplish his profit motive while in the background Mobay bleeds and a dilapidated hospital exists a mile from its venue, where is the benefit to the citizens of Mobay? The elites that own hotels, restaurants and now marijuana cafe enjoy the fruits, this cannot go on as is!!! It is the reason why the social and infrastructure decay along with the high levels of murders and robberies.
