Standard and Poor (SP), the rating agency that monitors the performance of a country's economic outlook, focus on our stock market's performance and the profitability of Corporate Jamaica. Mr.Nigel Clark states that ' the positive review reflects responsive yet discipline policy choices and institutional strengthening, even while in a pandemic' Gleaner,10/06/21). Both Mr. Clarke and S&P ignore the disastrous effect of its harsh austerity program initiated by the IMF and defended by the PSOJ. S&P admitted that our high debt rate, corruption, and crime threaten this unsustainable project, not realizing the economic shock project is the reason for our social decay. Ironically the IMF has projected a negative outlook for emerging countries like ours. Less than 10% of our population are vaccinated against the pandemic, a stumbling block for any economic improvement. Is this the reason why our government is showcasing its military hardware to frighten our people into submission?
