Our culture is riddled with individuals from the inner cities that become famous as gunmen, dons for a particular constituency, soccer stars, athletic stars, and reggae icon. It is a known fact that Reggae Music from the inner cities was the forum used to describe the harsh conditions of the communities, the cost of living, relationship issues, etc, it was the heartbeat of the downtrodden. Any youth that attempted to rebel against that structural design would be socially castrated, this system was designed to keep the majority impoverished and as fodder for tribalists empowerment. Those who defy that order are killed or forced to migrate to rural confines.  Some came out the crab in a barrel syndrome to excel and accepted by the status quo, some migrated and some developed mental issues but the society keep moving on with the power players stacking the cards so as never to allow the majority-black to be empowered. Kartel became the artistes to deliver on most front the western habits and anti-black attributes that fill the coffers of the pirates that see only profit-making, not a character-building as exemplified by their national heroes.  Some of our people are angry, not at the conviction of Kartel, but of the non-conviction of those fraudsters who raid the public purse, commit acts of murder and are allowed to walk free!!! The petro caribe multibillion-dollar scam has seen no arrest!!! but a violator of a night curfew is arrested within 24hrs, it is clearly a justice system that works against the poor and powerless, the mainstream media is very silent on these corruption issues, why? Kartel is guilty and recorded his act of murder on tape thus incriminating himself, he must pay the price, it must be one law for everyone, nobody must be above the law, not even Andrew Holness, this is the democratic society our heroes fought for but yet to be materialized.
