Since the political independence from the British throne our legislative process has been conducted by the two major political parties in Jamaica. Both parties having their original guidance and leadership emanating from establish political families and tied to the powerful networks of financial interest have prevented the establishment of a true representation of democracy in Jamaica. We are now poise to have a government sponsored celebration of our fiftieth celebration of our political independence from the still colonial mentality of the British Empire.
Given our state of social decay, rampant crime, hopelessness, high inflation and unemployment especially among our youth, the prostitution of our young females, the constant migration of our intelligencia, the sons and daughters of the poor and bearing the stamp of the most highly indebted country in the world, is this time for celebration or reflection.
Our parliament has become talking shop to disguise their main objective of misinformation while protecting the interest of the Private sector and western political interest in Jamaica. We have never in our political history had any of our Parliamentarians tried and convicted for corruption, fraud, deceit and dereliction of duty. The United States plane flying over Tivoli was unknown to the public; the disappearance of public funds during both administrations went by the wayside and we still have important public institution without statuary powers so as to maintain the status quo. Where have we progress? We are open for business to the highest bidder and thus have sold all our important national assets and are looking to sell more under the new impending IMF program; sixty percent of our population lives on squatters land, over seventy five percent have mental issues, we have one of the highest rate of return on investment in the world and a government still using the willy lynch tested divide and rule methodology.
