JAMAICAN WORKERS VICTORIOUS IN LUCEA.

The workers at the sprawling hotel compound in lucea won the right to return back to work after demonstrating against their removal. The management was intent on bringing in foreign workers to replace them. This is an important victory for the workers and the hotel workers in general and against the liberal policies espouse by both the government and the opposition. The IMF mandated policies which give private employers unchecked powers in Jamaica is causing great hardship and uncertainty in the lives of workers and their families. Where were the support given by their elected leaders? There is widespread abuses and contempt for contract and payroll workers in Jamaica which is contravene most International Labor Regulations. The Government and parliament must defend the interests of our workers, the main producer of wealth and stability in our country.
