"Dr. Haughton Walkback" Sunday gleaner editorial, 12/15/19. Dr. Haughton, the renowned lecturer at the University Of The West Indies violated a common principle inherent in any organization, collective decisions made after discussion must be followed. He objected to Mr. Phillip's suggestions on reducing the GCT by 2%  and currently trying to reverse his statement by confusing his academic habits with his newfound political status. We beg to differ with the analysis of his behavior. Mr. Clarke is new to the whole political machinery that has existed since our independence using lies, division, and tribalism to gain power. In judging Mr. Clarke,s action it seems that he was trying to appease the Private sector( The real power broker) by going against his party position but the reality of the tribal politics sobered him up. Mr. Clarke got our respect by lecturing on the danger to our people's livelihood and the debt trap posed by adopting the IMF construct!!!  Adopting the position of Phillip would be going against the grain of the IMF/Private sector corridor, thus he should have never let the lure of false acceptance and power from the powerful blinded him. Mr. Clarke should have as his guide the opinion and principle of our great leader, the Hon Marcus Mosiah Garvey, don't let them use your intellect to impoverish our people.
