The work of Cuban health collaborators in supporting Jamaica against the new coronavirus causing COVID-19 is described as active and vital by Dr. José Armando Arronte, PL reported.

The head of the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC) highlighted to Prensa Latina via the internet the realization between March and April of almost 38 thousand consultations and 716 lives saved by professionals from the largest of the Antilles, including the contingent reinforcement group Henry Reeve. Arronte highlighted the performance of the cooperators in receiving cruise ships with residents who returned to the Caribbean island, as well as caring for suspects or patients with COVID-19 and working on the investigation for diagnosis. During the exchange with Prensa Latina, the specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine confirmed the good health of the BMC members, "although some collaborators complied with isolation or quarantine after having contact with positive cases of COVID-19". In his words, the Cuban doctor insisted on the need for individual protection and on the compliance by collaborators of preventive measures to avoid contagion and return safe and sound to the homeland. The 434 aid workers are distributed in the four regions of the country and in the 14 parishes that make up the structure of the Jamaican health system, sharing activities in hospitals and primary care centers, he said. According to Arronte, the BMC is made up of 143 doctors, 234 nursing graduates, six pathologists, 18 technologists, 10 electromedical engineers, and management personnel. In his opinion, the bilateral technical collaboration agreement on health renewed last February for another three years constitutes an irrefutable sign of the acceptance of the work of Cuban brigade members in the Jamaican nation.
