The Caribbean Court of Justice an institution that should have been a reality since our political independence from Britain is the highlight of discussion between the Governing Peoples National Party and the Opposition Jamaica Labor Party. The governing Party under the leadership of The Honorable Portia Simpson is in favor of Voting for its implementation of having the Caribbean Court of Justice as the Jurisdiction of final arbiter of Justice and the opposition under the leadership of the Honorable Andrew Holness playing politics by saying we should have an appellate court in Jamaica to handle judicial review. It is clear that his position is tantamount to having the Privy Council as the sole legal entity to administer its colonial hold over the Caribbean. The Jamaica Patriotic Movement endorses the People National Party in breaking with this colonial legal impediment from our judicial life. The discussion of the appellate court must be done after the setting up of the Caribbean Court Of Justice.
