Mr. Lee Chin will be looking at agro-processing with the purchase of over 2850 acres of land while Gassan Azzan will be buying up over 400 acres. Since our independence, our indigenous rasta movement highlighted the importance of agriculture as a means of self-reliance and job creation. Similar to the response to Peter Tosh's reasoning of legalizing the weed, the officialdom turned a deaf ear. Our people are left out of important deals like these, questions prevailing, how much did they pay for the land? Will there be government oversight to ensure the formers are not exploited as they are now? Why was not any discussing on the land before sales? If history is our guide Lee-Chin came on the scene and wiped out all local cable operators then establish a system that saw rapid increases and excruciating customer service. Putting idle land into production will be good for our country but it must involve our government with a majority of shares!!! We have witnessed the failure of the private sector after getting all the benefits of the state. The slave wages offering to our people is one of the reasons we are experiencing an increase in mental illness and self-destructive behavior, our government must stop the selling off of our prize assets to their associates and friends. Mr. Shaw is a staunch supporter of signing deals that benefit foreigners and the local rich. We are of the view that the community surrounding this development must be stakeholders with their elected officials as the main driver of our agriculture development.
