Whoever reads the headlines of the international media in recent weeks will find, in abundance, news like this: «USA. Will the US intervene if China tries to invade Taiwan? The US is prepared for "any act" from Pyongyang." Thousands of tons of US weapons flow into Ukraine, others end up in the hands of its allies, and not a few take an unknown course.
War is a great business, we would say that it is the most desirable and lasting business of the capitalist system, and supports of the political and economic scaffolding of the US empire, which does not know how to, or cannot, survive without it. How many times has the economy in crisis of that country been regenerated thanks to the suffering of the victims of wars?
The US economic system was built around its military budgets, especially disproportionate during the Cold War. The alliance between the federal State and the arms companies is operational, coordinated, and indivisible, within what is known as the Military-Industrial Complex.
A war, which they baptized as "splendid" in 1898, turned them into a nascent empire; another, the first world conflagration, consecrated them as such, and the second of this type (1939-1945) made them the first power.
The "crusade against terrorism" allowed George W. Bush to stop the collapse of the US economy.
The Military-Industrial Complex was definitively structured on July 26, 1947, when President Truman imposed the adoption of the National Security Act. The collaboration between civil power, the US military, and the arms industry was reinforced throughout the Cold War, especially during the presidency of General Eisenhower, from 1953 to 1961, according to Voltaire Net. The arms industry acquired, thus, a considerable economic and political weight, decisively influencing foreign policy.
The economic crisis hits the world hard, and the most direct repercussions are observed in the increase in the prices of basic foods. Sanctions on Russia, as a result of the war in Ukraine, affected the energy supply, which triggered prices.
The great capitalist power today is losing ground to its rivals, even in areas as important as technological development and innovation.
A million deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic and the manifest inability of its leaders to face and solve crises call into question the alleged Yankee leadership. Unemployment, galloping inflation, problems with supply chains, shortages, and a president who competes with himself in unpopularity, do not justify but make us "understand" Biden's desperate race to stir up conflicts around the world.
